Infrastructure sectorsWe invest in and actively manage investments in a wide range of infrastructure assets which include electricity and gas transmission and distribution networks, water and sewerage companies, communications and transport related assets such as rail, airports, roads and ports.
We have experience of lending both senior and mezzanine debt facilities and have a dedicated equity fund which has been set up to invest in non Private Finance Initiative (PFI) / Public Private Partnership (PPP) infrastructure investments.
Our team has been involved in this sector since the outset of PFI/PPP. We have particularly strong credentials in investing in all key sectors where a PFI/ PPP approach has been adopted by Government including health, education, transport, government accommodation, environment and defence.
We are a significant lender to PFI and PPP projects including both bank debt and bonds in all of the above sectors. In addition we are an investor in and manager of PFI and PPP equity investments. We have exposure to both primary and secondary equity markets and we manage a secondary PFI equity fund with Innisfree.
In addition to investing in individual infrastructure projects M&G is one of the largest investors in the UK stock market with significant holdings in the major listed construction and facilities management companies in Europe. In addition we have significant holdings in public and private debt instruments issued by corporates across the sector.
The infrastructure investments we manage comprise both private and publicly traded debt and private equity.
In the debt markets our team manages a substantial portfolio of both private placements and publicly traded debt. We have significant credit research resources available to the team.
