Jim Leaviss
Fund manager: Jim Leaviss
Products available: ISA & OEIC
The Fund is designed to provide a secure income with stability of capital consistent with investment in gilts.
The Fund invests mainly in short, medium or long-dated gilts according to M&G’s view at any given moment of the likely course of interest rates and trend of the gilt-edged market. The Fund’s exposure to gilts may be gained through the use of derivatives. The Fund may also invest in other assets including collective investment schemes, other transferable securities, other debt instruments, cash and near cash, deposits, warrants, money market instruments and other derivative instruments.
The M&G Gilt & Fixed Interest Income Fund is managed on a total return basis, with the aim of outperforming its peer group. The investment strategy focuses on long-term issues, and tends not to be influenced by short-term changes in the economic or market environment.
Up to 20% of the portfolio may be invested in AAA rated government backed securities and a maximum of 5% may be invested in corporate bonds. These purchases are made in consultation with the fund managers of the M&G Corporate Bond Fund and the M&G High Yield Corporate Bond Fund.
