Group operations
Group Operations provide a varied range of services to entities not only within the M&G group of companies but also within parts of the wider Prudential group.

Investment Operations
Responsible for all post-trade activity where M&G acts as an investment manager, from settlement to the production of detailed financial reports. This includes:
- Investment Administration – oversees all aspects of security, transaction processing, settlements, income (dividends), corporate actions, reconciliations and quality control.
- Retail Investment Services – responsible for accuracy of records maintained for accounting, taxation and pricing purposes.
- Wholesale Investment Services – primarily responsible for accounting and reporting on funds managed in respect of Segregated Clients and Prudential Group companies; making regulatory disclosures on asset positions to relevant authorities; monitoring exposures to counterparties and adherence to Investment Management Agreements.
- Data Management - maintain security data across multiple systems used by M&G.
- Property Fund Reporting - responsible for the reporting and financial management of PRUPIM and M&G's property funds including provision of information for pricing purposes, reporting to external clients, VAT compliance and statutory financial accounting.

Business change
Business Change interfaces with both front and back office helping to understand their needs and deliver change. In addition Business Change works closely with the Information Systems department to develop technology solutions to meet the business needs.
The department is made up of five teams:
- Business Analysis; gathering requirements, providing analysis to develop the solutions, and assisting with user testing of project deliverables.
- Business Solutions; providing project solutions in line with both operational and Information Systems strategies and the business needs.
- Engagement Management; manage the relationships with each business unit to ensure Group Operations are well placed to support their change requirements.
- Project Management and the Project Management Office (PMO); provision of projects and report on progress of the overall change roadmap and act as guardians of the project methodology.
- Operational Change; delivering non-technical business process related changes, including new operating models and new markets/instruments due diligences.

Information Systems (IS)
Technology plays a vital role in the success of our business here at M&G. The IS Department is responsible for developing, integrating and maintaining the critical software and technology that underpins M&G operations and strategy.
IS Departments include:
- Development - M&G employs Technical Designers and Developers, who are focused on projects. Given the size and complexity of our systems, we require people with a wide range of technical skills, though increasingly we are focusing on JAVA, Oracle, XML and .Net. Within M&G, we split our technical staff into 2 teams; the Development Team tends to work on larger projects and uses JAVA, Oracle and XML whereas the Rapid Application Team focus on smaller projects using .NET, Excel, Sharepoint etc.
- Application Support - This team is responsible for the support and maintenance of the strategic business applications across a wide range of platforms and diverse skill profiles. We are responsible for the analysis of problems and issues relating to business processes, system processing, transactional and static data and issue/problem management including defining actions for other areas. We are split into 4 teams, covering Front Office, Integration, Back Office and business process support.
- Technical Strategy - This team establishes strategic directives, provides support for IS & BC analysts and designers, helps in the management of project approval process, reviews all system specifications/designs to ensure that they are in line with strategic directives. The Team Contains experts in the technologies we use.
- Release Management - This team provides an independent review and test of changes and ensures that each change item meets our quality criteria before it is allowed to be put into production. The team manages a controlled user acceptance testing environment and handles the implementation into this environment and production.

Operational Risk
The Operational Risk Team work alongside line managers to identify things that could go wrong in Investment Operations and put checks in place to reduce the likelihood of that occurring.

Information Risk Management and Facilities
- Information and Risk - This team has a dual role to provide a risk management function and to act as an embedded risk co-ordinator on behalf of Group Operations.
- Facilities - This team provides premises management and maintenance of Health & Safety compliance
