The portfolio is normally limited to shares of investment trust companies. These shares provide a wide spread of investment in the UK and overseas stockmarkets and are often available at substantial discounts in relation to underlying asset values. Income is not a major factor, and the yield can be expected to be slightly less than the average for investment trust companies.
The Fund is a concentrated portfolio of approximately 50 investment trusts with exposure to a wide range of international markets and investment classes. There is a bias towards UK equity stocks.
Alex joined M&G in February 2005 as a fund manager on the UK equity team.
In September 1995 Alex began his career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a trainee auditor. From January 1997 he worked for Jupiter Asset Management as assistant fund manager to Anthony Nutt, as well as supporting, in an analyst capacity, the rest of the UK team.
In 1995 Alex gained a BA (Hons) degree from Manchester University in politics and modern history.
