Fund manager: Charles Anniss
Products available: ISA, OEIC & Savings Plan
The Fund invests in smaller companies in Europe, with the sole objective of long term capital growth. The Investment Manager will generally seek to draw the holdings from a universe of companies which constitute the bottom third in terms of total market capitalisation. There is likely, however, to be some investment in medium and larger capitalised companies in order to enhance the liquidity of the Fund.
The Fund will include both ‘growth’ and ‘value’ stocks within the portfolio. We seek to identify companies that exhibit the following qualities: strong competitive edge (leadership in a niche market, natural barriers to entry, technological advantage), financial strength (strong balance sheet, earnings growth) and a management team able to deliver the appropriate strategy for the business.
Charles joined M&G in December 2000 as a member of the investment communications team. He became an analyst on the equities team in October 2003 focusing on European smaller companies under Giles Worthington. Having taken an increasingly proactive role in the day to day management of the fund, Charles became co-manager of the M&G European Smaller Companies Fund with Giles on 1 March 2006 and sole manager on 1 January 2007.
Charles graduated from the University of Bristol in 2000 with a 2.1 Honours degree in French and Spanish. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
